In Batumi, I've stayed with my kids in Hotel Sputnik. I paid $40 per night for 3 of us including breakfast. I was amazed to find that local telephone calls are free even from the hotel.

Its a little out of the way, 1/2 km up on a hill behind the bus
station, but has splendid views. You can get there with Marhsrutka #126 which comes up from Hopa along Eras Kucha. Tel +995 222 76063.

The price of a tourist visa for Georgia now is GBP 13 (At embassy in UK: http://www.geoemb.org.uk/consular.htm)
