Sozopol was crowded when I was there app. a month ago, but that should have abated by now. It"s more expensive than inland Bulgaria. The old town is nice (cobbled, rickety streets with those distinctive Bulgarian houses). Beaches are sandy.

Other resorts south (Kiten, Primorsko) are also
seaside resort towns - very busy start of August. My overall impression was that it could have been any resort anywhere in the world. Except there is nobody hassling you to buy things.

If you stay in Burgas, you may well find a room from the ladies at the train station who have signs.
