All Ukrainian ports to be harbored in one Next week the Ukrainian Ministry of Transportation will subordinate all the Ukrainian ports to the single organization, Ukrport, to facilitate the country’s transportation network’s integration into the world transportation system, according to the transportation minister, Heorhiy Kyrpa.
The minister spoke to a news conference in Moscow after the joint session of the Ukrainian and Russian transportation ministries’ boards on Monday.
Container bridge The minister said that in the near future Russia’s port of St. Petersburg and Ukraine’s port of Illichivsk will launch the project of building a so-called “container bridge” between St. Petersburg and Illichivsk to handle deliveries from the Mediterranean and Azov seas via mainland to the Baltic area.

Infrastructure According to Kyrpa, this project does not require any initial investments because the two ports have highly developed infrastructures.
He said that the newly established Russian-Ukrainian company RosUkrTrans, which has unified Ukraine’s «UkrZovnishTrans» and Russia’s Association of International Forwarders, will carry out the project.
According to the minister, the new company will coordinate concluding contracts, stowing cargoes, and deliveries. |
