Second pipeline
Blue Stream project, which targeted transportation of natural gas from Russia to Turkey through a pipeline installed under the Black Sea has ended on Tuesday with the welding of the second pipeline installed between Samsun and Ankara.

A 'last welding' ceremony was held due to the complement of second pipeline. A 'golden welding' ceremony was held on October 20 in Samsun as the installation of the first pipeline was completed.

Ready to serve
Samsun Governor Muammer Guler said in the ceremony which was held in Carsamba township of Black Sea Samsun province that an important project was completed and is ready to serve. He added that they are very pleased for the completion of the project.

Guler said that they will complete the procedures for transferring natural gas from now on.

Transports to start in December
BOTAS officials said that first natural gas will be transferred to Turkey on December with the project of Blue Stream.

The pipeline cost 3.4 billion U.S. dollars. The 376 km of the 1200 km pipeline passes under the sea.

Blue Stream project had been brought onto the agenda with an agreement signed between Turkey and Russia on December 15, 1997.

The amount of natural gas transfer will reach 16 billion cubic meters in 2007 in accordance with Natural Gas Purchase Agreement which was signed with Russia for 25 years.
